Technical Overview
Overview & Function
The Suburban 2609A, chamber RP-35Q, is the genuine replacement core for SF-35Q and SF-42Q RV furnaces. These mid-size furnaces heat larger travel trailers and fifth wheels, and their chambers endure thousands of expansion cycles per season. When the chamber fatigues, heat output drops and safety switches begin tripping. The 2609A core replaces exactly that worn section while the cabinet, blower, and controls stay in place.
Fitment & Compatibility
This core is listed for Suburban SF-35Q and SF-42Q models using the RP-35Q chamber. Confirm 2609A on your parts breakdown and RP-35Q on the chamber tag. The mounting pattern, burner interface, and exhaust alignment are specific to this chamber family, so verify before substituting. Gaskets and seals should be renewed during the same service.
Technical Construction & Specifications
The RP-35Q chamber is fabricated to Suburban SF-series dimensions with positioned burner, ignition, and limit-switch interfaces for the 35Q/42Q firing envelope. Flange faces are machined for gasket sealing against the housing, and the heat-exchange routing preserves factory temperature-rise characteristics. Materials and weld placement follow the OEM process for thermal-cycle durability in RV service.
Installation & Maintenance Guidelines
Certified technician service is required for gas furnace chamber replacement. Disconnect LP and power, remove the furnace, and open the housing per the manual. Fit the 2609A core with a complete fresh gasket set, torque to specification, and reassemble. Finish with leak-down testing, ignition trials, limit-circuit verification, and a timed heat cycle confirming steady vent temperatures.
